Institution

The Design Minds, Inc., for the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Association

While working at The Design Minds, Inc., I served as content developer for a small visitor center providing context for a reconstructed Blockhouse where Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Trail began in southwest Virginia.

An exhibition graphic titled "Life at the Blockhouse," in front of a picture of 1700s militiamen in front of a log of a blockhouse. A basket and an iron pot is displayed at front.

What I Did

Interpretive planning, content development & exhibition writing

Working with the client and the firm’s principals, I outlined how different aspects of the story would fit into the space, including a content matrix and bubble plan.

Wrote the exhibition text and edited the text in collaboration with others at the firm and the client

Image sourcing

Sourced images for the graphic panels and wall treatments, mostly from outside sources.

Project management & client interface

Served as point-of-contact for the client.

Guided the day-to-day process from start to finish.

Attended exhibition installation.

The Results

  • A new exhibition that helped visitors contextualize the recreated Anderson Blockhouse and Wilderness Trail.
